JOKER- The 2019 film starring Joaquin Phoenix is one of my favourite films and favourite thriller films. It has inspired the planning of my own thriller. The slow camera shots that are used allow the audience to see what is happening in the scene and understand what is happening with the character. I think the lighting with the green tint goes perfectly with the film it makes the joker stand out in his colourful suit and his hair doesn't look too bright. In scenes such as the bathroom dance scene and stair dance scene sound is used very well. The sound is clearly not being played in that moment but we feel that the joker can hear it in his head as he dances to it. One of the pictures displayed below is a close-up of the joker dancing to his imaginary music and the other picture shows the prominent colour scheme throughout the movie.
The train scene is a scene that I think is thrilling as it cuts sometimes as the train lights flash, and there is sudden gun shots causing flashing lights and confusion. As 2 of the three men are shot the camera is from the jokers perspective making us side with the joker instead of the men being shot. I also like the action in this scene. The picture below is of a one of the three men harassing the Joker.
In the scene where Murray is killed by the joker the use of extreme close-ups is very effective as we get to see the joker changing from laughing to serious so quickly making us question his psychological state. The tense music slowly getting louder and faster creates suspense in the scene and puts the audience on edge. The shock of Murray being shot is unexpected and after there is slow shots and we can see the jokers legs shaking and startled movements with the audience not knowing if he is anxious or exited. The picture below is a long shot right before Murray is killed.
