Initial thoughts:

A thriller film would be dominantly aimed at an age range of 15-24 year olds this is due the content of thriller films such as: violence and relationships. This genre is targeted and more of a older age range therefore won't be a light hearted film and the camera shots and acting will need look very professional. Many thriller movies attract both genders because of the suspense and drive to know what will happen next. Although, stereotypically thrillers are aimed at males due to the action and violence in the movies. On the other hand, stereotypically women will be more likely to watch a thriller if it has a relationship within the film. The class of the person also affects if they would want watch a thriller. Thrillers typically have a lot of violence and action therefore more middle-class men would be enticed to watch it. Many workers such as builders and plumbers would like to relate to the violence and action making them more likely to watch it. The ethnicity of the person watching rarely applies for thriller films. However, people of different races may want to watch the film if the cast has a variety of races.

Some ideas of an opening scene for a thriller:

Many establishing shots of a city at night, with some up beat non-diegetic music playing. The city will have lots of colourful bright lights making it look full of like but as the camera shots move closer to the city it would show empty buildings and roads suggesting loneliness. I would start with an unnamed character driving on the empty road playing quiet diegetic music in his car. After showing shots of the neighbourhood he is in I would then create a problem. Shown through his wing mirror would be another dark car turn around the corner with its lights on so the person in the car cannot be seen. This willow allow the audience to decode a problem occurring. This would create drastic irony as the audience would spot the problem but the character wouldn't yet. The audience will be intrigued and want to know why he is being followed and who they are. The man would eventually spot there could be someone following him and pulls over into and empty car park with no one around indicating something is about to happen. The follower  would slowly get out the car and go to the mans window and before he can say anything would be killed confusing the audience. The mans identity would then be revealed and using propps character roles we would be able to distinguish a villain.
